Clean lines, flat recessed panels, and a look that never goes out of style. Our in-stock Shaker doors pair a wood frame with smooth MDF panels and come primed and ready for paint, as a slab or prehung. Custom size jambs are available.
Both styles are built the same way and stocked in the same sizes. The only difference is the panel layout, so pick the look that suits your home.
One Panel Shaker Door
One tall recessed panel gives this door a clean, minimal look. It suits modern, transitional, and farmhouse interiors, and a hallway of matching doors looks calm and uncluttered.

Two Panel Shaker Door
Two stacked panels with a rail between them give this door its classic Shaker proportions. It adds a little more detail and traditional character without losing the simple flat-panel look.

How They’re Built
Wood Frame, MDF Panels
Shaker doors use frame-and-panel construction. Vertical stiles and horizontal rails form a wood frame, and a flat panel sits in a groove inside it. The cutaway shows how the pieces fit together.
Stable through every season
Solid wood panels expand and contract with humidity. MDF panels hardly move, so you won’t see cracked panels or unpainted lines opening up at the edges.
A smooth surface for paint
MDF has no grain to raise or telegraph through, which gives you a smooth, even painted finish.
Primed and ready
The doors come primed, so you can go straight to your finish color.
Your Options
Primed, Prehung or Slab
Order exactly what your project needs, from a single replacement slab to a houseful of prehung doors.
Primed
Factory primed and ready for paint. Skip the prep and go straight to your finish coat in any color.
Prehung
Hung in its jamb with hinges already installed, ready to set in the opening, shim, and trim. This is the fastest way to install a new door.
Custom size jambs available
Slab
Just the door, with no frame or hinges. It’s the right choice when you’re replacing a door in an existing frame that’s still in good shape.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What sizes do you keep in stock?
Our One and Two Panel Shaker doors are in stock in three heights — 6′8″ (80″), 7′ (84″), and 8′ (96″) — in widths from 16″ through 36″, and in both 1-3/8″ and 1-3/4″ thicknesses.
What is the difference between a prehung door and a slab?
A slab is the door by itself, with no frame or hinges. It is the right choice when you are replacing a door in an existing frame that is still in good shape. A prehung door arrives already hung in its jamb with hinges installed, so it is ready to set into the rough opening, shim, and trim. Prehung is the easiest option for new construction or when you are replacing the door and frame together.
Which thickness should I choose, 1-3/8″ or 1-3/4″?
1-3/8″ is the standard thickness for most residential interior doors. 1-3/4″ doors are heavier and more substantial, with a solid feel when they open and close. If you are replacing a slab in an existing frame, match the thickness of your current door so it fits the jamb stops and hinges.
What is a custom size jamb, and do I need one?
The jamb is the frame a prehung door hangs in, and its width needs to match the thickness of your wall. Walls framed with 2x4 studs and 1/2″ drywall usually take a 4-9/16″ jamb, and 2x6 walls usually take 6-9/16″. If your walls are thicker or thinner than standard — plaster walls, paneling, or older homes — we can build the jamb to fit, so your trim sits flat without extension strips.
Are the doors ready to paint?
Yes. The doors are primed, and the smooth MDF panels and wood frame are ready for your finish color. Apply a quality interior paint and you are done.
Do you ship in-stock doors?
Yes, we ship nationwide. Send us your sizes, the number of doors, and your zip code, and we will confirm stock and give you a quote.
